Frequently asked questions
Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is a specialised treatment that combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern dermatological insights. It involves the insertion of ultra-fine, sterile needles into specific points on the face and sometimes the body. The treatment aims to stimulate blood circulation, boost collagen production, and promote overall skin health for a more youthful appearance.
Unlike Botox or dermal fillers, which introduce foreign substances into the body, Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-invasive, natural approach to skin rejuvenation. It focuses not just on reducing the signs of aging but also on promoting holistic well-being. There are no chemicals or surgeries involved, and the treatment has zero downtime, meaning you can go back to your regular activities immediately after a session.
Results from acupuncture treatments can vary based on individual factors like age, skin type, and overall health. Many clients notice improvements in skin tone and texture after just one or two sessions. For the best and long-lasting results, we typically recommend a series of 6 to 12 treatments as part of a personalized plan.
Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is generally safe and well-tolerated. Some clients may experience slight bruising, redness, or tenderness at the needle insertion points, but these effects typically resolve within a day or two. We follow strict sterilisation and safety protocols to ensure a comfortable and effective treatment experience.
Most people who are in good health and are looking for a natural approach to facial rejuvenation are good candidates for this treatment. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, such as chronic migraines, uncontrolled high BP or diabetes, pregnancy, blood clotting disorders or active skin infections. Please book a free consultation if you have any active medical problems so I can explore the suitability of the procedure.
To prepare for your session, I recommend that you come with a clean face, free of makeup or heavy lotions (but it's fine if you do). It's also a good idea to eat a light meal about an hour before your treatment to ensure you're comfortable throughout the session. Avoid consuming alcohol or caffeine on the day of the treatment as they may affect blood circulation.
