  • Do I need a referral from my GP?
You don't need a referral to book an appointment with us. However, we do suggest that you first consult with your general practitioner (GP) to assess your condition before considering a General Medical Acupuncture treatment. It's important to note that acupuncture is not a substitute for conventional medical care. Instead, it serves as a complementary therapy that can offer added benefits.
  • Can I arrange a call over the phone to discuss my condition?
Certainly, if your condition isn't listed among those we commonly treat, we recommend contacting us before scheduling your first appointment. You can reach me at 07843278752. If I'm unable to answer, it's likely because I'm attending to a patient. Please leave a message, and I'll return your call at my earliest convenience. Alternatively, you can schedule a complimentary consultation using our online booking system, and I'll call you at the time you've selected.
  • How do I prepare for an acupuncture treatment?
It's a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothing for your acupuncture session. We also recommend eating a light meal about an hour before your treatment and staying hydrated. Avoid alcohol or heavy meals right before your appointment to ensure the best possible experience. Please remove make-up before a facial acupuncture treatment.
  • What should I expect during my first visit?
During your first visit, you'll have a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Eoghan Colgan to discuss your health history, concerns, and treatment goals. Based on this, we'll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs, and you'll receive your first treatment. Your first Medical Acupuncture Session will last 45-60 minutes and follow-up visits will last approximately 45 minutes. Your first Facial Cosmetic Appointment will last approximately 1hr 45 minutes, with follow-up appointments lasting 90 minutes.

  • What exactly is Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is a specialised treatment that combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern dermatological insights. It involves the insertion of ultra-fine, sterile needles into specific points on the face and sometimes the body. The treatment aims to stimulate blood circulation, boost collagen production, and promote overall skin health for a more youthful appearance.
  • How is it different from Botox or dermal fillers?
Unlike Botox or dermal fillers, which introduce foreign substances into the body, Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-invasive, natural approach to skin rejuvenation. It focuses not just on reducing the signs of aging but also on promoting holistic well-being. There are no chemicals or surgeries involved, and the treatment has zero downtime, meaning you can go back to your regular activities immediately after a session.
  • How soon can I see results?
The timing and extent of results can vary from person to person, depending on factors like age, skin type, and overall health. However, many clients report visible improvements in skin tone and texture after just one or two sessions. For long-lasting results, we recommend a series of treatments, usually ranging from 6 to 12 sessions, as part of a personalized treatment plan.
  • Are there any side effects?
Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture is generally safe and well-tolerated. Some clients may experience slight bruising, redness, or tenderness at the needle insertion points, but these effects typically resolve within a day or two. We follow strict sterilisation and safety protocols to ensure a comfortable and effective treatment experience.
  • Who is a good candidate for Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Most people who are in good health and are looking for a natural approach to facial rejuvenation are good candidates for this treatment. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, such as chronic migraines, uncontrolled high BP or diabetes, pregnancy, blood clotting disorders or active skin infections. Please book a free consultation if you have any active medical problems so we can explore the suitability of the procedure.
  • How do I prepare for my Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture session?
To prepare for your session, we recommend that you come in with a clean face, free of makeup or heavy lotions. It's also a good idea to eat a light meal about an hour before your treatment to ensure you're comfortable throughout the session. Avoid consuming alcohol or caffeine on the day of the treatment as they may affect blood circulation.
